FORECAST PRO DLL ADDS FORECASTING MUSCLE TO SOLUTIONS FROM BRIDGEWARE,
IMS HEALTH, MADE2MANAGE, PAN-PRO AND SCT – OTHER INTEGRATED
SOLUTIONS COMING SOON
November 1, 1999. Business Forecast Systems of Belmont, MA has
released FpwLib, a dynamic link library (dll), allowing software
developers the ability to seamlessly integrate Forecast Pro’s
accurate statistical forecasting routines into their applications.
According to BFS Vice President Eric Stellwagen, “The role
of the forecast is critical to all planning systems—it is
the number around which all the decisions are made. Our dll allows
software developers to seamlessly embed Forecast Pro’s accurate
forecasting in their applications. The result is better planning,
big savings for the developer’s customers and a huge competitive
advantage for the developer.”
FpwLib is written in C++ and can be called from virtually any development
platform. The calling program provides the data to be forecasted
and instructions indicating how the forecasts should be prepared.
FpwLib calculates the forecasts and writes out the results, including
forecasts, confidence limits, safety stocks, model details and summary
statistics. FpwLib supports the same forecasting models implemented
in the award winning Forecast Pro product line. The calling program
can either specify a specific forecasting method to use or specify
expert selection, which uses a rule based expert system to automatically
choose the appropriate forecasting technique for the data.
The following companies are currently shipping solutions that utilize
FpwLib:
Bridgeware, Inc. – DMSWin, a demand planning system.
IMS Health - Pharmacast&Beyond, a forecasting product
for the pharmaceutical industry.
Made2Manage - Made2Manage Demand Planning, a demand
planning module for their ERP system.
Pan-Pro, LLC - Pan-Pro VMI, a vendor managed inventory
solution.
SCT Corporation - Fygir Demand Planning, a demand planning
system designed for process industries.
BFS is currently negotiating with numerous other application developers
and additional integrated solutions will be announced soon.
